Introducing the Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer 2017 Bag Collection. The brand’s latest collection features the bags that were presented in their runway show. The Spring/Summer 2017 also celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Bottega Veneta, wherein the brand created limited edition designs inspired from their archives. These includes the new City Knot Bag, a shoulder bag which has the iconic Knot closure and the Umbria Bag, a mini saddle bag with a flap-front and two-tone colors. The collection also includes The Lauren 1980 Bag, a clutch made of the signature Intrecciato leather which was designed for Lauren Hutton in the movie American Gigolo. The classic bags like the Cabat and Knot Clutch gets an update with floral embellishments. Other styles this season are different shoulder bags and top handle, made in a mix of materials like goat, crocodile, ostrich, karung and lizard.
Bottega Veneta first introduced this clutch in the late 1970s, but it was not until in 1980, after Lauren Hutton was spotted with this bag in the movie American Gigolo, that this intrecciato Nappa clutch earned its moniker.
And we experienced this sense of déjà vu when we saw the actress herself strutting down the Bottega Veneta runway during the Spring/Summer 2017 show with that very same bag.
Bottega Veneta’s Art of Collaboration project for the Spring/Summer 2017 advertising campaign, is with none other than American photographer Todd Hido. Shot in New York City at the Modulightor Building designed by renowned architect Paul Rudolph, the campaign stars Lauren Hutton — something I’m sure we all expected, since she was the star of the SS17 runway show.
